Geosynthetics are mainly made of civil engineering composite materials woven from polymers. They are mostly set in soil and rocks to solve engineering problems. Geosynthetics have been used for about 50 years. In response to diversified civil engineering, this material is still continuously derived and improved. In order to effectively develop and promote this product, it is necessary to develop its analysis methods, material specifications, test methods and construction specifications based on its different product functions. The World Geosynthetics Society (IGS) is the most influential international academic platform that combines the industries of all countries in the world. The International Geosynthetics Society (IGS) was registered in Paris, France on November 10, 1983 and has been established in the world. There are 43 branches established on seven continents, with about 4,000 individual members and about 120 corporate members. It is the most influential technical organization for geosynthetics today.
In order to promote the application of geosynthetics, the first World Geoweaving Conference was held in Paris, France in 1977, and the second World Geoweaving Conference was held in Las Vegas, USA in 1982. , Until September 2018, 11 sessions of the World Geotechnical Symposium have been held in Seoul, South Korea, with 1,000 participants.
