Since the organization project was formally named in 1988, and Prof. Robert Langer and Prof. Charles Vacanti and others published the ear of organizational engineering in Science, it has become a rapidly emerging emerging discipline in the international academic community. Later, due to the rapid progress of stem cell research, related fields, such as regenerative medicine, have sprung up. At present, not only the medical profession has paid great attention to it (such as Nature Biotechnology introduced a special issue of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine in August 2014). The engineering community also has a lot of scholars to invest in material research and development, controlled release, cell culture, tissue regeneration, cell biology, Research and development in related fields such as organ wafers, 3D printing, gene regulation and gene therapy. The academic door involved spans the fields of chemical engineering, medical engineering, and basic medical research.

The TERMIS Regional Meeting is held regularly in specific countries every two years, as well as several international regional forums and special meetings. In addition to facilitating the exchange of academic research and experience sharing in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine around the world, the above-mentioned conferences have also established many relevant specifications and future directions. In addition, a series of books related to tissue engineering and regenerative medicine have been published. Due to the large number of research scholars involved, the number of important journals related to tissue engineering and regenerative medicine has also increased rapidly, and the impact index has increased substantially.

TERMIS (Tissue Engineering & Regenerative Medicine International Society) is the most important international organization in the international organization of engineering and regenerative medicine. It is divided into three branches according to the region: Asia Pacific (AP), AM Chapter and Europe (EU) Chapter). TERMIS is a global academic organization and it is quite difficult for this TERMIS AP to be held in Taiwan. The number of TERMIS APs has exceeded 800 in the past two years. Although I am only conservatively targeting 600 people in the project book, I actually hope to attract 800-1,000 people. Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine are involved in the study of chemical engineering, medical engineering, and basic medical research. At present, China’s relevant associations include the Chinese Society of Biochemical Engineering, the Taiwan Chemical Society, the Republic of China Health and Medical Materials and the Pharmaceutical Society, the Taiwan Regenerative Medicine Society, the Medical Engineering Society, the Stem Cell Association, and many others. Through the holding of this conference and my own hard work, it is expected to enhance the international recognition of research communities in relevant areas in Taiwan and invite internationally renowned scholars (such as current and former presidents of various branches and chief editors of important journals) to visit. Let domestic scholars have more opportunities to participate in the operation of international journals and TERMIS in the future.

TERMIS currently has 3,702 global members and comes from 87 different countries. There are 1085 AP club members, 1087 AM club members, 1358 EU club members, and 172 other developing country members. Currently, each of the three clubs regularly holds annual conferences. For example, the AP branch held a conference in Shanghai/ Wuzhen in 2013 and 900 people participated. The AM club meeting was held in the United States with 800 participants. The 2014 EU chapter held a conference in Italy, with 950 participants. The AP club meeting was held in South Korea with 840 participants.

In 2013, Dr. Lin Fenghui of National Tsing Hua University invited Dr. Lin Fenghui from Taiwan Medical University to hold the 2016 TERMIS-AP Annual Meeting in Taiwan. At the same time, he also reported in the TERMIS AP Council in Shanghai in 2013 that he successfully won over all With the support of the Board of Directors, the 2016 TERMIS AP was awarded the right to host. The conference also won the support of the Republic of China Health and Medical Materials and Drug Preparation Society and the Taiwan Society of Regenerative Medicine. Therefore, Professor Xu Mingzhao, Director of the 2013 Biomaterials and Drug Sterilization Society, and Professor Hong Shijie, Secretary General of the Taiwan Society of Regenerative Medicine served as the conference. The co-chair (conference co-chair) is scheduled to be held from September 2 to September 6, 2016 at the Fullon Fisherman’s Wharf in Taipei. The conference is expected to be attended by about 600 domestic and foreign experts and scholars, which will make this conference an important international organization for engineering and regenerative medicine in the Asia-Pacific region. It also hopes that Taiwan will once again become an international focus.
