The World Federation of Medical and Biological Ultrasonic Society (WFUMB), the WFUMB General Conference, is located in Maryland, USA. It originated from the International Disease Association in 1969, and the International Conference on Diagnostic Ultrasound is also included in this seminar. Based on the expansion of international cooperation, it was decided to establish a non-profit scientific organization as an international medical organization for the diagnosis of ultrasound. Currently, the six largest member organizations are: (1) EFSUMB (2) AFSUMB (3) AIUM (4) FLAUS (5) ASUM (6) MASU.
The first conference was held in San Francisco, USA, in 1976, and held once every three years. After 2009, it changed to be held every two years. It has been held for 15 years and is one of the world’s most important international medical academic conferences.
Due to the increasing influence of this conference, the competition for the main power of the conference is very fierce. It is not easy for Taiwan to win the 2017 WFUMB conference. The conference will be hosted by the Association of Chinese Medical Ultrasonics. Conference topics include 1.Basic Science, Instrumentation and Quality Control, 2.Head and Neck Ultrasound, 3.Breast Ultrasoun, 4.Interventional/Intraoperative/Anesthesiologic Ultrasound, 5.Chest Ultrasound, 6.Nephro-/Urologic Ultrasound, 7.Contrast – Enhanced Ultrasound, 8. Musculoskeletal Ultrasound, 9. Echocardiography, 10. Neuroscience, 11. Education in Medical Ultrasound, 12. Ophthalmologic Ultrasound, 13. Elastography, 14. Pediatric Ultrasound, 15. Emergency and Critical Care Ultrasound, 16. Preclinical Ultrasound , 17. Endocrinology Ultrasound, 18. Therapeutic Ultrasound, 19. Fetal Echocardiography, 20. Ultrasound in small parts, 21. General and Abdominal Ultrasound, 22. Vascular Ultrasound, 23. Gynecologic/Obstetric Ultrasound, 24. Veterinary Ultrasound, etc. It is expected that there will be 4,500 domestic and foreign participants together to celebrate the grand event and come to Taiwan to publish a paper. It is also a great opportunity for scholars, experts and students in related medical fields to participate in the international conference to absorb the global knowledge and demonstrate the strength of Taiwan’s ultrasound. Through this conference, we will exchange research findings and believe that we will write a new page in the history of Taiwan’s medical ultrasound field on the international stage.
