詳細內容
The International Astronomical Union (IAU) is the highest scientific organization in the field of astronomy and astrophysics and is also a member of the International Council for Science (ICSU).
The International Astronomical Union was established in 1919. Its purpose is to hope that through international cooperation, it can promote and maintain the development of astronomy. To promote the exchange of academic research and experience sharing among astronomers, the International Astronomical Union regularly organizes IAU academic seminars on specific scientific topics. The International Astronomical Union also supports the regular holding of three regional conferences, the Asia Pacific Regional IAU Conference (APRIM), the Latin American Regional IAU Conference (LARIM) and the Middle East and Africa Regional IAU Conference (MEARIM). With the convening of the above-mentioned meetings, in addition to promoting the exchange of academic research and experience sharing in astronomy around the world, many related norms and future directions have been formulated.
The first Asia Pacific Regional IAU Conference (APRIM) began in 1978 and has been held regularly every three years since then, showing that this conference has become one of the most important international astronomical conferences in the world.
The following is the year and location of the APRIM meeting that has been held:
Year Location
2014 Daejeon, Korea
2011 Chiang Mai, Thailand
2008 Kunming, China
2005 Bali, Indonesia
2002 Tokyo, Japan
1996 Busan, South Korea
1993 Pune, India
1990 Sydney, Australia
1987 Beijing, China
1884 Kyoto, Japan
1981 Bandung, Indonesia
1978 Wellington, New Zealand
During APRIM 2014, Zhu Youhua, chairman of the Astronomical Society of the Republic of China, traveled to South Korea to report with the Scientific Committee (SOC) at the meeting and strive to host 2017 APRIM in Taiwan. At the same time, another Australian Astronomical Society, represented by Mr. Lister Staveley-Smith, sponsored the bid. Finally, APRIM 2014’s academic agenda committee voted for the resolution and agreed to hold APRIM 2017 in Taipei. We hope that with the holding of this conference and our hard work, we hope to raise the international awareness of the research community in Taiwan’s related fields and invite internationally renowned scholars to visit so that domestic scholars will have more opportunities to communicate with foreign scholars in the future. We also look forward to allowing Taiwan to once again become the focus of international attention.
Here we estimate the number of APRIM 2017 attendees based on the number of APRIM 2014 attendees held in Daejeon, South Korea in 2014. According to statistics, APRIM 2014 had 476 participants from Asia (Taiwan, China, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Philippines, India, Nepal); Middle East (Iran); Eurasia (Russia, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan); North America (United States, Mexico, Canada); South America (Chile); Australia and Europe (Germany, France, Netherlands).
