The 8th Asia-Pacific Pediatric Cardiac Society (APPCS 2021) is co-sponsored by the Taiwan Children’s Cardiology Society and the Republic of China Cardiac Children’s Foundation, and is authorized by The Asia-Pacific Pediatric Cardiac Society (APPCS).
The establishment of the Asia Pacific Children’s Heart Association (APPCS) began with a discussion between two physicians, Dr. Apichai Khongphatthanayothin and Dr. Pirapat Mokarapong at the end of the Third World Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery Conference held in Toronto, Canada in May 2001. The discussion mentioned the growing need for large-scale Asian pediatric cardiology conferences, as in other regional pediatric cardiology conferences (for example: European Pediatric Cardiology Association), but limited by the limited resources of each region, not every Asian Countries have the ability to organize pediatric cardiology conferences on their own; afterwards, at the 2004 leadership meeting in Shanghai, speakers from South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, China, Thailand and India discussed an Asia Pacific Pediatric Cardiology Conference. Comprehensiveness and future vision. It is hoped that through the holding of conferences, all medical caregivers of children with heart disease will be gathered in an academic manner, with the goal of helping children and inspiring the next generation of pediatric cardiologists and caregivers.
The Taiwan Children’s Cardiology Association is a non-profit social organization that combines domestic medical and child health staff engaged in child cardiology-related work to jointly promote the development of children’s cardiology and maintain the health of children in our country. The Heart Children’s Foundation of the Republic of China was established in June 1971. It was the first medical foundation in Taiwan to assist children with heart diseases to obtain appropriate treatment and to promote the community’s care for children with heart diseases. In order to encourage the prevention and research of pediatric heart disease, the foundation provides multiple subsidies such as pediatric cardiology research project scholarship, pediatric cardiology international exchange scholarship, heart examination and overtime allowance for surgical technicians. Since 1991, it has continued to subsidize nursing care. Personnel, cardiac catheterization and surgical room technicians and doctors go abroad to learn a variety of new clinical care, emergency care, and treatment techniques, and often invite internationally renowned pediatric cardiology authorities to Taiwan to guide the ever-changing cardiac catheterization operations. The improvement of academic treatment performance is of great help.
The Asia-Pacific Children’s Heart Conference held its first Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery Society meeting in Bangkok, Thailand in 2006, with approximately 500 participants attending. With the success of this conference and the new vitality brought by all clinicians involved in the treatment of children’s heart diseases in Asia, it will be held in Asian countries every two years, in order of Juju Island in South Korea (2008), It was held in Fukuoka, Japan (2010), Taipei, Taiwan (2012), New Delhi, India (2014), Shanghai, China (2016) and Bali, Indonesia (2018). The 8th Asia-Pacific Children’s Heart Conference will be held at the Taipei International Convention Center from July 15-18, 2021. It is expected that more than 500 doctors and related professionals in the field of pediatrics and children’s heart will attend the conference. This will make this conference an important international pediatric heart medicine conference in Asia, and it is also expected that Taiwan will once again become International focus.
