The Asia-Pacific Chamber of Commerce and Industry is a regional business organization formed by the highest commerical organizations in the countries of the Asia Pacific region. The inaugural meeting was held in Taipei in 1966 to promote the development of economic and trade cooperation among countries in the region. Its permanent secretariat was formally established in Taipei at the end of 1980 and became the only international business organization headquartered in China. Its chief executive served as a citizen of my nationality. To date, 29 national industrial and commercial organizations from 27 Asia-Pacific economies have participated. Positive members, the Republic of China International Economic Cooperation Association of the Republic of China, and the Republic of China Industry and Commerce Association are all positive members. They are helpful to promoting the substantive economic and trade relations between member states and establishing a communication channel.
