The Asian-Pacific Hernia Society was established in 2004 by Dr. P. Chowbey and Dr. D. Lomanto in Singapore to promote translation research and cooperation in basic science and clinical medicine in the Asia Pacific region. It hopes to provide a platform for academic education exchanges. To apply the latest medical information that is most beneficial to patients to the treatment of hernia disorders.

The 2017 International Congress of the Asia Pacific Hernia Society was held for the first time in Kaohsiung through the efforts of the members. The conference is expected to have 500 participants from home and abroad, in addition to the Asia-Pacific region, will also invite scholars and experts from Europe and the United States and other countries to celebrate the grand event. The theme of this conference is “Abdomail wall hernia surgery". It is expected that many lectures on the latest diagnosis/treatment modes for laparoscopic and hernia extension diseases will be organized such as Symposium, three Lunch Seminars, and a Live workshop. Oral reports and poster presentations in various related fields. In addition to continuing the tradition of the APHS conference, a surgical broadcast workshop will be held to allow participants to learn more about the links between science and clinical practice through the surgical process. It is hoped that this seminar can be held to exchange with international gas experts in order to further enhance the clinical diagnostic capabilities of local related diseases and seek opportunities to participate in international clinical plans or research. The holding of this conference will bring new ideas for the field of hernia medicine in the country, and will encourage young local doctors and researchers to participate in international conferences so that young doctors in China can obtain relevant knowledge and education.
