The International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) is the world’s largest non-governmental and non-profit organization in the field of transportation. It is known as the “architect" of the international freight forwarding industry, and is represented at the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). The United Nations (especially the Economic Commission for Europe, ESCAP, ESCWA), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), and the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) all act as consultants. At the same time, it has also been recognized by many governments and non-governmental organizations such as the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the World Customs Organization (WCO), and the World Trade Organization (WTO) as representatives of the international freight forwarding industry.
FIATA holds a world congress every year. It was held in Geneva, Bangkok, Cairo and Los Angeles. The number was about 1,000 to 1,500. For the first time in 90 years, the FIATA conference was held in Taiwan.
